On the second day of the ***** New Year, our family went to Desaru Hard Rock. We were initially very excited and happy about the trip. However, when we arrived, we were not allowed to check in. Since it was the holiday season, we understood and decided to walk around and take some photos.
At 3 PM, we went back to the front desk to check in again, but they still told us that the room was not ready. Having stayed in many hotels, this was the first time I experienced a situation where the room was still not available at 3 PM. Normally, guests check out by 12 PM, so why wasn’t the room ready by 3 PM? The front desk staff also had a poor attitude and didn’t tell us how long we needed to wait. They simply said, “You just have to wait.”
We were already very tired and just wanted to get into our room to rest. After waiting for a while, we asked again, and they still said the room was not ready. Instead of giving us a definite answer, we had to rely on WhatsApp messages to find out when the room would be available. The entire situation was so uncertain.
What made me angry was that, having stayed in so many hotels, I couldn’t believe that a well-known hotel chain like Hard Rock would fail to have rooms ready by 3 PM. They also didn’t inform us of a specific wait time or offer any compensation. So, does that mean if the room is ready at 7 PM, we can only check in at 7 PM? That’s ridiculous.
Putting all of this aside, we finally received a message at 3:57 PM, went to the front desk to complete the check-in process, and only got into our room after 4 PM. We thought we could finally rest—wrong!
At 8 AM the next morning, the room service staff rang every doorbell in our row, saying they were there to clean the rooms, even though we never requested any housekeeping service. We later realized that they went door to door, ringing every room’s bell. We have no idea why they did this, but it was very disruptive and unnecessary.
